Sill & Soil is a small, ongoing record of learning to keep houseplants alive — not a professional horticulture site, and not written by someone who already had all the answers. It started because the same handful of questions (why are the leaves yellowing, why won't this thing grow, is this too much water or not enough) kept coming up, and the answers scattered across the internet weren't always easy to trust or easy to find.
Each post starts as a draft researched with AI assistance, pulling from multiple gardening sources to check the details. Every draft is then read, fact-checked, and edited by hand before it's published — nothing goes up unreviewed. Where a post reflects a real plant being grown and watched, that's noted directly; where it's a researched guide rather than a first-hand account, it's written that way too.
This isn't a substitute for advice from a local nursery or extension office, especially for anything specific to your climate, water, or plant variety. Houseplant care has a lot of "it depends," and these notes aim to be a solid, honest starting point — not the final word.
If something on the site is wrong, unclear, or you've got a plant question you'd like covered, corrections and suggestions are always welcome at sillsoil95@gmail.com.
